Vietnam’s new bridge is for kissing, not for crossing

Unveiled December 23, Vietnam's newest attraction, the "Kiss Bridge," designed by Italian architect Marco Casamonti in collaboration with luxury tourism developer Sun Group, has become a sought-after selfie hotspot.

Stretching over 800 meters on Phu Quoc Island, the bridge is divided into two halves inspired by Michelangelo's fresco painting, "The Creation of Adam," where the fingers almost touch.

The new "Kiss Bridge" resembles two mouths touching.

Positioned precisely, the 30-centimeter gap between the north and south sections aligns with the sun on January 1st, offering a unique setting for couples to share a kiss against the scenic Vietnamese sunset.

The bridge, named "Cau Hon" in Vietnamese, translating to "proposing marriage," is situated in Phu Quoc Island's Sunset Town, known for its picturesque beaches and regarded as Vietnam's top island getaway, particularly popular among honeymooners.

Phu Quoc has invested heavily in tourism infrastructure, and the Sun Group, which also developed the "Golden Bridge" near Da Nang, continues to contribute to the island's allure as a tourist destination.

Upscale hotel brands like Regent, InterContinental, and JW Marriott have also established a presence on the island. Now, with the addition of the "Kiss Bridge," Phu Quoc offers one more enticing attraction for visitors to experience.
