Hundreds of residents braved the rain to witness the Ho Chi Minh City Hall transform into a vibrant masterpiece through a spectacular 3D mapping display paired with dynamic music.

On the evening of December 4, throngs of people gathered along Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1 to marvel at the historic City Hall’s colorful transformation. Utilizing advanced 3D mapping technology, the artistic program “Hello Vietnam” delivered a stunning blend of light and sound, unveiling a new visual identity for the century-old national monument.

3D mapping technology, which employs light and imagery to create intricate 3D effects on uneven surfaces, allowed the City Hall’s architectural features to interact seamlessly with virtual images, resulting in a breathtaking visual experience.

The state-of-the-art display showcased cultural symbols such as Dong Son bronze drum patterns projected onto the façade of the building, vividly highlighting Vietnam’s heritage. The 3D mapping performance also featured traditional Vietnamese culture, with the iconic áo tứ thân—the Northern women’s four-panel dress—gracefully rendered in vibrant hues across the structure.

The display painted a radiant image of Ho Chi Minh City Hall under the night sky. Previously, 3D mapping technology had been showcased at the Municipal Theatre, focusing on the city’s historical journey. During this event, iconic architectural elements such as the clock tower and the statue of Marianne, symbolizing benevolence, were transformed into resplendent bouquets of colorful flowers.

Despite a heavy downpour earlier in the evening, many enthusiasts gathered early in front of the City Hall to secure their spot for this extraordinary artistic event. Visitors eagerly captured moments of the building’s metamorphosis, which included appearances of traditional bánh chưng and bánh tét motifs.

This mesmerizing 3D mapping show marked the opening ceremony of the Teqball World Championships. The tournament, held from December 3 to 8 on Nguyen Hue Street, has drawn over 220 athletes from 95 countries and territories to compete. The show draws a lively crowd of both locals and international visitors, immersing them in the vibrant atmosphere of Ho Chi Minh City's Travel Week.
