European Heritage Days, originally a French initiative dating back to 1984, offers a unique opportunity to explore sites typically off-limits to tourists. Since 1985, the European Council expanded this event to the entire European Union, renaming it European Heritage Days in 2000. In 2023, this event celebrates its 40th iteration, showcasing the rich cultural tapestry of Europe to the world.
