Nestled 150 kilometers from Ho Chi Minh City, Tram Chim National Park spans an expansive 7,400 hectares, drawing visitors with its abundant biodiversity and unwavering commitment to conservation.

Home to over 230 bird species, including 32 rare and 16 endangered ones, Tram Chim National Park gained recognition as a Ramsar site in 2012, marking the fourth in Vietnam. The ideal time to experience the park's avian wonders is in February when migratory birds return, showcasing remarkable diversity and beauty.

Visitors are treated to scenes reminiscent of an ancient Mekong River Delta landscape, complete with flocks of storks, lively fish, and native plants. The Asian openbill stork, known as Co Oc, is strictly protected and plays a crucial role in pest control for local farmers.

Tram Chim's C1 and C2 areas are hotspots for bird gatherings due to their abundance of food. Despite the absence of red-crowned cranes for many years, a recent initiative by Dong Thap Province involves investing VND185 billion ($7.63 million) to acquire 60 cranes from Thailand, with the goal of releasing 100 cranes into the wild and achieving a 50% survival rate.

Exploring Tram Chim National Park throughout the year reveals unique attractions during specific seasons. Witness Nhi Can Tim (lentibulariaceae) bloom in late January-early February and Hang Dau An (xyris indica) from March to May, transforming the landscape with vibrant colors.

Tram Chim National Park's vast expanses also feature white and red water lilies, harvested for various culinary delights, including salads, braised and stir-fried dishes, and soups. Visitors can navigate the park's waterways via motorboats or wooden canoes, offering a relaxed and scenic experience.

Two main routes, spanning 12 and 21 kilometers, provide glimpses of Dong Thap Muoi, featuring melaleuca forests, grass meadows, oryza rufipogon fields, and lotus ponds. A stop at the C4 area includes a 16-meter-high observation deck with a panoramic view, complemented by countryside foods typical of the delta.

Tram Chim National Park attracts not only tourists but also researchers and photographers. Wildlife photography enthusiasts are advised to exercise patience and passion, as capturing wild birds may require careful observation and the right camera equipment.

To enter the park, visitors must purchase tickets and can rent motorboats or canoes, with a maximum capacity of 20 people. It is crucial to adhere to the park's guidelines, including not littering. A freshwater fish and bird museum near the tourist operations center offers insight into the park's wildlife, including a red-crowned crane specimen.

During the flooding season from August to November, Tram Chim National Park offers engaging activities like unloading fish traps and catching rats, coinciding with the bird breeding season. Accessing Tram Chim involves flying to Can Tho, proceeding to Cao Lanh City, and then traveling to Tram Chim Town in Tam Nong District.
