Hue is one of the most charming towns in Vietnam and is located on the banks of the beautifully named Perfume River. This part of Vietnam has a long and illustrious history as it used to be one of the main royal capitals of the country.
Hue Imperial City
Hue citadel is the ancient citadel, is one of the most famous tourist sites in Hue today. As a cultural and architectural heritage of the Nguyen Dynasty, this large citadel includes a number of museums, ornate stalls, and interesting sculptures, all surrounded by paintings. Although the citadel suffered much damage throughout the wars, some parts were restored. It's easy to get out of the crowd and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere while contemplating history and admiring the details left over.
Thien Mu pagoda
Located in the north of the Perfume River, on high ground, Thien Mu pagoda is an important religious and spiritual site. One of Hue's most visited sights and a symbol of the city, this towering temple has exquisite details and beautiful sculptures. The surrounding area also has many fragrant and colorful flowers.
The Royal Tombs
There are many important royal tombs in Hue, the last resting place of ancient emperors. The most visited tombs include the tombs of Minh Mang, Khai Dinh and Tu Duc. While these three tombs are often considered the most visited places when traveling to Hue, four more tombs in the area are also open to visitors. if you have a lot of time, you should also consider adding those places to your schedule.
Thanh Toan bridge
The charming Toan Bridge, also known as the Japanese Bridge, it is located a few kilometers from the city center. Situated in a peaceful countryside, it was built in the late 1700s to connect the two banks of a small village. This beautiful bridge has elements from both Chinese and Japanese cultures. Today, people often sit and chat on the picturesque bridge and burn incense at the small temple on the bridge.
The Perfume river
This lovely river is a pride of the locals. You can stroll and take a bike along the beautiful river, but the perfect way to enjoy the scenery, when the weather is cool and fresh air is to boat ride along the river and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere, travel back and forth through the rich history of the city. Some old bunkers are scattered along the river, as a reminder of the not so distant past. You can only see them from the outside and take some beautiful photos.
Hai Van Pass
Hai Van pass emerged on the blue sea of the East Sea, stretching about 20 km from Hue to Da Nang. It is a high mountain pass along the 1600km coastline of Vietnam. For centuries, this pass has formed a wall between the ancient Cham culture in the south and the inheritance of the Vietnamese tribe in the Red River delta, the dividing line between literary influences from the north and south of Asia.
