La Maison 1888, nestled within the InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort on Son Tra Peninsula, has made history as Da Nang's first Michelin-starred restaurant. This prestigious accolade was bestowed during the Michelin Guide 2024 Vietnam ceremony on June 27, 2024, in Ho Chi Minh City.

Seif Hamdy, General Manager of the resort, hailed the award as a testament to the restaurant's unwavering commitment to culinary excellence. The Michelin star, part of the world's most esteemed culinary ranking system, signifies high-quality cuisine worthy of a special stop.

La Maison 1888

Conceived 11 years ago by renowned American architect Bill Bensley, La Maison 1888 is a masterpiece of Indochine-style design. The restaurant, resembling a French colonial mansion, is harmoniously set against the backdrop of Son Tra's lush primary forest.

The venue's layout is thoughtfully segmented into distinct areas. La Veranda offers 24 seats, while the Buffalo Bar accommodates 14 indoor and 30 outdoor guests. For those seeking a culinary spectacle, a 14-seat dining area provides panoramic views of the kitchen. Private dining options include an intimate four-seat room and two 12-seat spaces.

La Maison 1888

La Maison 1888 pioneered collaborations with Michelin-starred chefs in Vietnam, initially partnering with Michel Roux before engaging Pierre Gagnaire. The restaurant's seasonal menu artfully marries French culinary traditions with local Vietnamese ingredients and fresh seafood from Son Tra's waters.

Signature dishes showcase this fusion, such as Hokkaido-style grilled scallops and an innovative take on Vietnamese boiled snails wrapped in Italian cannelloni pasta. A standout creation features green crab meat paired with wine, lemon mayonnaise, cucumber mousse, dill, and luxurious Kristal caviar.

Culinary direction comes from the celebrated chef Pierre Gagnaire, whose philosophy embraces global culinary diversity while drawing inspiration from his love for Vietnam. Head chef Florian Stein, with experience from the acclaimed Le Chambard in Alsace, France, supports Gagnaire's vision.

The restaurant offers two primary menu options: the original Pierre Gagnaire menu at 5,000,000 VND per person and the Esprit Pierre Gagnaire menu at 6,000,000 VND. Vegetarian alternatives are available at 4,200,000 VND and 4,800,000 VND per person.

La Maison 1888

La Maison 1888's reputation extends beyond its recent Michelin star. In 2016, CNN ranked it among the world's top 10 best restaurants. Architectural Digest recognized it as one of the globe's 10 most beautiful restaurants. The World Travel Awards crowned it the World's Leading Fine Dining Hotel Restaurant in 2017.
