Nestled between rice paddies and a sprawling river that runs across the country lies the town of Siem Reap, a place more popularly known as the gateway to the ancient ruins of Angkor.

Nowadays, Siem Reap has a wide variety of activities and adventures to offer those that get templed out. Between its wide range of ridiculously cheap backpacker hostels and trendy boutique hotels, deciding where to stay in Siem Reap can get quite tricky. To help you guys out, we put together a list of the best places to stay in Siem Reap for both hotels and hostels. Before you carry on reading, we would like to add that Cambodia is one of the cheapest places for accommodation so expect our splurge and luxury picks to still be quite reasonable!

Best Budget Places to Stay in Siem Reap

Overflow Guesthouse

If you are looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of all the pubs and restaurants, you can opt to stay at Overflow Guesthouse, a place 10 minutes away from town. The outdoor pool is the perfect place to relax after a full day of exploring temples. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and very reasonable. The breakfast options given are all pretty fantastic as well. Overall, a great place to stay if you want a relaxing getaway. (Prices start at $15 for two people with breakfast)

Pool Party Hostel

If you’re looking for a clean budget hostel, then this place is one of our top picks. The place has modern dorm rooms, an outside pool area where they throw bbqs and an awesome garden with hammocks. Although a little far from the town (1.2 km away from pub street) it is still within walking distance. The place is also quite near the night market making it a great base for a few days. If you are traveling solo, this is a great place to stay as it’s a very social hostel! (Prices start at $5 for a dorm bed while private rooms go for $12 a night for two people.

The Luxury Concept Hotel

Located just 3 minutes away from the Old Market and Pub Street, this hostel is ideal for those who want to be right in the center of all the action. The rooms are clean and pretty basic but the rooftop area is awesome. This hostel is a great choice for those looking to meet other people as the common areas make it to be a very social place. The beds are pretty comfortable for a hostel and the pool table that guests can use is pretty awesome as well. (Prices start at $5 a night for a dorm bed while double rooms run for $15)

Best Mid-Range Places to Stay in Siem Reap

Villa Indochine D’Angkor

This beautiful resort is one of our top picks for splurges while in Siem Reap. The resort itself is located in a beautiful compound with a beautiful outdoor pool. The rooms are spacious and well decorated, with some of them even being equipped with a stone tub. Pub Street is 2.4km away and although it’s a bit far, the hotel provides a free shuttle until 10 pm to the main area of town. The staff here are lovely and go out of their way to help you out. The breakfast that comes with the rooms is also great value. (Prices start at $45 for two people with breakfast)

Popular Residence Hotel

This little gem of a place is ideal for those that want to stay somewhere a lot more peaceful compared to being in the city. Located 5 minutes away from Pub Street at other restaurants, the hotel provides you with a free tuk-tuk service to take you to town and back. The hotel features a nice outdoor pool along with very clean rooms that are well decorated. (Prices start at $40 a night for three people with breakfast)

The Cyclo d’Angkor Boutique Hotel

If you want to be a little bit closer to all the temple ruins, this boutique hotel is a great choice. The room decorations are lovely and the staff here are fantastic. The breakfast isn’t served buffet style but that is okay as a la carte menu was pretty delicious. The rooms are luxurious and the outdoor pool is a nice treat. Definitely worth checking this place out! (Prices start at $35 for two people for a deluxe room)

Best Luxurious Places to Stay in Siem Reap

The Aviary Hotel

If you’re looking for a top notch hotel to stay in while still being close to all the restaurants and bars. The hotel is very modern and chic with beautiful decorations all throughout! The rooms are well thought off with the staff paying close attention to the little things that make your stay a lot more pleasurable. The outdoor pool and the breakfast is also noteworthy. (Prices start at $75 onwards for a standard room for two with breakfast)

Mane Boutique Hotel & Spa

Located 1km away from Pub street, this hotel is a fantastic place to stay for those that want a luxurious place that isn’t too far from the main town. If you don’t feel like walking for 15 minutes, the hotel provides a free tuk-tuk service back and forth making it very convenient. The rooms are all beautifully decorated ensuring a luxurious night’s sleep while in Siem Reap. Definitely a great pick and one of the best places to stay in Siem Reap! (Prices start at $106 with breakfast and airport transfers)

Model Angkor Resort

This beautiful resort is nestled in between a lush private garden where you will find their outdoor pool plus spa facilities. The rooms are very luxurious and well decorated. We love the large bath area which is perfect for relaxing. The hotel premises is beautiful and although a little bit far way from town, the free tuk-tuk service to and from makes up for it. The staff also helps you organize trips to the temple which is very convenient. (Prices start at $87 for a room for two people with breakfast)
